2. Markers
Grab fine tip markers, colored pencils, and highlighters.
The Color-Logic Bible Study Symbols has ten different color groupings. So grab a handful of colorful pens.
Tip: Use no-bleed ink
Nothing compares to the joy in my heart, seeing my children and grandchildren spend time with Jesus – the Word made flesh.
Sharon
3. Bible
Find a Bible to color.
If you don’t have a Bible to color in, you can always print off scripture sections to use.
We recommend the New Inductive Study Bible-NASB; it is a study Bible with wide side margins for writing keyword lists, chapter headings, and charts to fill out.
Which version of the Bible is suitable for you? The one you color in. 🙂
Family Bible Study Sanity Tip: Have everyone use the same version.
4. 1 John
Start with the chapter where your favorite verse is found OR start with 1, 2, 3 John.
1, 2, 3 John will show you if you are a true believer in Jesus Christ or not. Are you up for the challenge?
Click here for a free download of 1, 2, 3 John text and the 1st lesson from Precept.org.
After John considers doing the book of Romans.
5. Holy Spirit
Your teacher is the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is within you. He is filled with wisdom. Ask Him to open your eyes and reveal the truth to you.
Imagine that you are there in the setting observing what is going on.
The Holy Spirit is the soft, quiet voice within offering you direction and discernment.
Listen, and He will speak.
6. Read
Read the section you are going to be coloring.
When you read the section before any color, you may find you have no idea what you just read.
That is common – no worries.
The first reading is an overview.
After a while, you may begin to envision the symbols on the words before you draw them.
7. Draw
Draw a symbol on the first word that you spot from the Color-Logic Bible Study Symbols Guide.
Then, look through the section to spot the same word and draw the symbol OR…
Move word by word.
Sometimes Sharon does option one, and sometimes, option two.
8. Reflect
Along the way, step back to reflect and allow your imagination to see you in the setting.
Pause to process the meaning of each word.
If you do not know a word, look up the reference in a Bible dictionary or ask Siri.
Sharon uses blueletterbible.org for reference.
9. List
Write the repeated keywords in the side margin of your Bible.
Below each keyword, reference the verse and what the text said in as few words as possible. Do your best to only use words from the text.
Also, create a list of what you learned about God, the author, and the recipient.
10. Ask "W's" & How
As a child continually asks why to learn about the world around them. As an adult, settle on what is your ‘why.’
Ask what, where, when, why, how come, and how many.
Asking questions develops your critical thinking skills, improves learning, and imprints knowledge.
11. Life Lessons
Circle any verses the Holy Spirit brought to your attention.
“Beloved, you should do this…”
Record in your Planner the truths you have learned.
Jot down ways you will practice applying the principles.
12. Pray
Talk to God about each verse, thank Him for what He did and ask Him to help you live what the text is saying.
If God could make NEW the murderers, adulterers, religious leaders, prostitutes, liars, cheaters, and Ms. Love.
Making YOU NEW will be no problem.
The Best Bible Study Method uses Color
Color brings the word to life
Understanding God: When God designed the world, He used colors and hues. And, if you want to know how to get closer to God, color your bible.
Tint and tones surround and clothe you. Colors have meaning, while hues excite and agitate you.
Colors are both symbolic and breath-taking.
Color affects your emotions, mind, clarity, and even your energy level.
A world without color is drab, dreary, and bland. And so is your Bible.
So let’s add some color. 🙂
Color Meanings and Use
Purple is spirituality and imagination: God, and of God.
Blue is trust and loyalty: all authority, males, water, and the author.
Orange enthusiasm and emotion: recipient, you do, you talk.
Pink is love and compassion: all females, fruit of the spirit, good things.
Green is harmony and health: all locations, teaching, money, time, and growing.
Yellow is happiness and optimism: all light, enlightenment.
Brown is stability and reliability: all buildings, clothing, food, sight, work.
Red is passion and energy: all sin.
Black is power and sophistication: all darkness.
Gray is compromise and control: all conjunctions, extras, laws, and oaths.
With the awareness of color under your belt, the next step is seeing God’s Word come alive.

Or if he is wicked, make him black. For the orange recipient communication symbol, when God is speaking, use purple and when the author is talking, use blue.

Dealing with guilt and shame
How to overcome guilt and toxic shame
To learn how to overcome guilt and toxic shame, start with
What is Guilt?
According to Wikipedia, guilt is an emotional experience that occurs when a person believes or realizes—accurately or not—that they have compromised their standards of conduct or have violated universal moral rules and bear significant responsibility for that violation.
Acts of evil, though directed at a person, are done against God.
Feeling guilt is a good thing to occur when you sin against God. The feeling points you to your need for forgiveness.
What you do next is up to you.
You can overcome guilt by choosing to repent, turn and change your mind and ask God for forgiveness.
Forgiveness is God wiping your slate clean. As far as the east is from the west, God remembers your sin no more. You start again as if you never did anything wrong – ever.
After asking for God’s forgiveness and getting your heart set right again, it’s time for the next step.
Make amends with the person you have wronged. Read the Art of the Apology and use it.
Or you can…
Ignore the feeling of guilt, hide what you have done, and silently suffer the consequences.
Be aware…
Not feeling guilty when you sin against God indicates you have silenced the Holy Spirit in your life and could be close to the point of no return.
Overcoming guilt is a choice.
What is Shame?
Shame is an unpleasant self-conscious emotion typically associated with a negative evaluation of the self.
Shame does not come from God.
In love, God drives your accusers away, lifts you, and says, “Go and sin no more or worse things shall happen to you.”
With shame, you have a choice to make…
Is your opinion of you more accurate than God’s?
Overcoming toxic shame happens by replacing who you think you are with who God says you.
Knowing who God says you are and understanding God would be discovered when you COLOR YOUR BIBLE.
